Another aspect of the Autism Spectrum experience is the presence of co-existing conditions, referred to as comorbidity. These multiple experiences can overlap in various ways. In these works, two specific experiences are recreated: Synesthesia and its effects. Synesthesia is a neurological phenomenon in which stimulation of one sense leads to involuntary activation of another. My personal Synesthetic experiences involve the interplay of sound and color. Inspired by DJ re-mixes, images of Albrecht Dürer prints are sourced and sampled to re-edit towards this context. The paper surface becomes a space of time where forms can be arranged as they glitch, jump, skip, and warp. This process results in a conceptual coloring book when re-combined, signifies visual sound vibrations and color in a creative composition, analogous to a musician or composer creating a piece of music. These prints highlight the vibrations of sound experience, interacting with the visually concrete and non-concrete realms simultaneously.
